Carice Anouk van Houten (Dutch pronunciation: [kaːˈris ɑˈnuk vɑn ˈɦʌu̯tə(n)];[3] born 5 September 1976) is a Dutch actress and singer. She is mostly known for playing the lead in Black Book (2006), the most commercially successful Dutch film to date, and Melisandre in the TV series Game of Thrones since 2012.[4] Internationally, she is also known for English-language work in films like Valkyrie (2008), Repo Men (2010), and Black Death (2010).
